Is there a real story that Alice in Wonderland was based off of?

I heard somewhere that Alice in Wonderland was based off of a true story. it was not at all like the Disney one and that Alice was actually living in a distorted world because her family died or something like that. i just wanted to know if anyone knows the full story behind it and if it was true or of that is true at all. thnx

It was written by author Lewis Carol, there was a real little name Alice .He wrote the Story for her

There really was an Alice, but the author (a rather creepy sort of individual, actually) invented the story to entertain her and her childhood friends. No doubt many of the things in the story are based on people, places and things known to both the author and to Alice - but the story itself is, of course, not based on any true story.
