Hello@mally,
Astrology
According to an encyclopedia (The World Book Encyclopedia), astrology "based on the belief that the heavenly bodies form patterns that reveal the personality of an individual or his future." Astrologers say the exact position of the planets and zodiacal sign, at the same time a person is born, can have an influence on the course of his life. The position of these stars at a given moment is called horoscope.
Belief in astrology dates back a long time. There are some 4000 years, the Babylonians began to predict the future by looking at the position of the sun, moon and five planets visible. They claimed that these celestial bodies exercising certain forces acting on human behavior. Later, they included in their predictions zodiac signs.
The Babylonian astrologers failed to predict the fall of their city, if only for a few hours before. And when a conviction has appeared on the palace wall of King Belshazzar, have not been able to interpret the mysterious handwriting.
In our time, astrologers proved equally unable to predict major events. After reviewing more than 3000 astrological predictions, Robert Culver and Philip Ianna, researchers found that only 10% were correct. All well documented forecaster would have done better.
Numerology
An objection that numerologists have not been able to overcome is that schedules vary across cultures. For example, imagine that you live in a country where we use the Chinese calendar. According to this calendar, September 11, 2001, mentioned in the introduction, is the 24th day of the 7th month of the 18th year of the 78th cycle. In the Julian calendar, this is the 29 August 2001. According to the Muslim calendar, which is 22 Djumada II 1422. As the Hebrew calendar, it means the date as 23 Elul 5761. How a date is expressed in so many different ways could she have numerological significance? Another objection: every language has its own spelling of names. In French, for example, the letters contained in the name Jean worth 3, whereas in English the letters the same name, John, are 2.
Recognize that many aspects of the universe can be explained by mathematical formulas is one thing. These formulas can be tested and demonstrated. But to pretend that your name has been predestined to coincide with your date of birth and to be associated with certain numbers to determine your fate is something else entirely.
The conclusion is clear: to believe in numerology interpretations as they depend on factors as variable as the timing and language returns to the frontiers of credibility to the edge of absurdity.
Some take a liking to numerological because they want to plan everything in their lives. Contingencies defy any attempt at prediction based on date of birth or the algebraic value of a name.
With few exceptions, the woes are not - indeed can not be - predictable. That's why Underwood Dudley, professor of mathematics, wrote about numerologists: "They do not give enough credit to chance. Amazing things can happen randomly. '
It is true that numerologists can make some predictions come true. How to explain? Sometimes it is coincidence. At other times, the language is so ambiguous that numerologists can match several issues. But a more important factor comes into play.
Divination and occult powers of spiritualism. Evil spirits can direct events so that they serve their purpose. Whether true or not in a given situation, one thing is certain: the practice of spiritism may place someone under the control of evil spirits.
Numerology has no scientific basis and does not withstand the scrutiny of reason. Worse, a form of divination, it is opposed to the teachings of the Bible. Therefore, it is not a beneficial way to lead your life and plan your future.
Have a good day ;-)
