I love Greek mythology, and was wondering if anyone knew of a good Dionysus story. Hes the god of theatre, fertility, wine and parties. You can either summarize it, give me a link, or tell me what it's about (which i guess is a summary...lol) whichever is easier, please!

Dionysus was the Greek god of wine, vegetation, pleasure and festivity.

He was best known for introducing wine and revelry to humans.

He was known as Bacchus in Roman mythology.

Dionysus was the son of Zeus and mortal Semele.

The last god to be inducted into the Olympian pantheon.

(Hestia gave up her position in the pantheon in favour of Dionysus. )

He was brought up by mountain nymphs in safety far away from the jealous wrath of Hera. He spent most of his time wandering around the world with satyrs, mountain nymphs and wild dancing women known as Maenads.

In his journey of life; one of the most famous stories was his abduction by the pirates.

The pirates hoping to sell him at a slave market, but unfortunately far out at sea, the ship suddenly changed to vines, the sea to wine and he himself into a lion.

The pirates threw themselves into the ocean and became porpoises.

As much as he was known for the introduction of wine and reverly to humans. Best known for the introduction of orgasm and ecstasy for sexual pleasure.

Thus, he was also known as the god of ' the moment of choice ' and of the moment before surrendering to the irrational and illogical feeling.

Lastly, his filial piety was notable.

Once he was elevated to the position of god, he undertook the journey to the Underworld to retrieve his mother.

Subsequently, he placed his mother in Heaven as a star called Thyone.

Hera ejected her son Hephaestus from the heavens because he was "shrivelled of foot". He fell into the ocean and was raised by Thetis (mother of Achilles). Hephaestus gained revenge against Hera for rejecting him by making her a magical golden throne, which, when she sat on it, did not allow her to stand up. The other gods begged Hephaestus to return to Olympus to let her go, but he refused, saying "I have no mother". At last Dionysus, sent to fetch him, shared his wine, intoxicating the smith, and took him back to Olympus on the back of a mule accompanied by revelers.
