Dr. Weil reassures us that the body will get rid of the gum in due time. However, he does point out that sugar-free gum, whether swallowed or chewed in large amounts, can cause digestive problems. The sugar substitutes (hexitol, sorbitol, and mannitol, to name a few) found in sugar-free gum are not absorbed, but pass into the small intestine and colon, where they can cause diarrhea.

Eventually yes you will die, but not because you swallowed your gum. Your gum will just come out or in other words you will excrete it. Don't worry no harm done.

Nope, you're not going to die... yet.

The gum "plants" itself into your stomach wall. The grows roots and a trunk. Eventually a gum tree grows right up your throat. If you keep the gumtree trimmed and healthy, you'll have gum fruit sprouting out your ears.

I saw this on Dr. Know the other night! It doesn't stick in your appendix, it doesn't stay in your tummy for 7 years - it just passes out like everything else you eat!!! Now you know! (just don't tuck it behind your ear)

In basic terms you crap it out like anything else, except it might stick to your cheeks on its way out.
