i'm not some dumb kid who hasn't done their homework.

i don't believe that the world will be destroyed or anything, however, i do believe that SOMETHING will happen.

given the recent events, i think we've already started the process... with chile's earth quake, the earth's axis shifted a little bit and our days are now shorter by 1.26 milliseconds (you can read about it on the yahoo news page, just click the back button for a little bit and it will come up), it doesn't seem like much.. but over the years, it adds up.. and that's not saying that something else won't happen... also on yahoo's news page, California is over-due for a massive earth quake which could be up to the 9's.

i'm not saying i believe that the mayan calendar is 100% right, i don't even believe in it that much. i do however think it's a bad coincidence of events that will happen... the Hopi Indian tribe had predicted a bright blue light as "the heavens coming down" and it makes me question planet x, nibiru.

i'm not wanting criticism unless it's brutally harsh... random children who say "you're retarded nothing will ever happen don't act like you know everything blah blah blah blah blah" (i know no one of that mental stability could spell that nicely, but oh-well.)

I'd be interested to know what you think might happen in 2012 and why it won't happen in 2013, 2014, etc. Or have you been taken in by the fact that there are many predictions about 2012 and you think it must have some basis.

Many large earthquakes cause a small shift in the Earth's axis and its rotation rate. The Earth's poles and rotation regularly alter by amounts 1000s of times greater than this during every year, without any influence from earthquakes. 1.26 microseconds (not milliseconds - the Yahoo! article was wrong) makes no practical difference. It's lost in the noise.

The fact is that all the predictions of doom in 2012 are entirely without foundation. Every single one of them. No doubt 'something' will happen 2012 as well as 2013 and 2014. I like to stick to hard facts. For example, there was no prediction by the Hopi Indians regarding 2012.

I guess if the doomsday crackpots come up with enough garbage about 21st December 2012, some people will think there must be something in it. Wrong. There isn't the tiniest scrap of truth in any of it.

1, you are dumb the mayan never said anything would happen at the end of the long count, No real historian has ever thought that, all the mayans said was they might have been planing a party. clearly you haven't done your homework.

2, massive earthquakes (over 6 or 7) happen every year (1 or 2 a year) they just dont normally get the coverage, google earthquake (and a year of your choice) and you'll reports of the bad quakes that year just because you dont remember them doesn't mean it didn't happen. also slight time changes happen all the time, natural disasters, redistribution of ice hell even the 3 gorges dam caused days to be nearly a millisecond shorter

3. read this http://www.nasa.gov/topics/earth/features/2012.html its from real scienctists not morons who can build a website

get a grip and get your facts for people who actually know what there talking about rather thn making it up as they go along

The Mayan calender basically ends it's long cycle on December 21st, 2012. The History Channel are the ones that started all of this crap with the end of the world. Personally on my own opinion, as well as yours if there is something to happen on that date, I don't believe it will be a bad effect on us all, but some sort of positive change and not basing something to happen on December 21st, 2012, but I have done research as well, that different other people including the Hopi tribe(If that is spelled right) believe something is to happen on that date. Not sure what, but I guess something.

okay, for a long time i thought that the idea was that all the planets were going to align and that is why they think something terrible is going to happen, but i tried looking up info on planet alignment and what did i find but a bunch of govt websites swearing that a planet alignment has never will never and can never ever ever happen lol. then i learned that the mayans figured out that there would be an eclipse and the transit of venus within a few months of eachother. me and my husband were talking about it, he brought it up that with all the magnetic forces aligned so close together its foolish to think absolutely nothing will happen. i don't know though. i think something will happen too, i mean i saw a history channel movie about it in school in the 6th grade and its just always been on my mind ever since, like one of those things thats just there in life, something that almost everyone knows something about, i think something will happen, and maybe it will be the end of the world as we know it, but i hope it won't be the end of the world. anyway. all these earthquakes going on is a little strange you know, i didnt even know that about the earth's axis shifting that freaks me out alot actually. but yeah cali is due to fall off the earth. i mean err have a large earthquake...

the whole element became into based false impression upon false impression. at the start, the Mayan Calender does in deed end on 2012. yet since it could have had to end in some unspecified time interior the destiny (you won't be able to make an eternal calender), it fairly isn't any marvel that they ended it. 2nd, the theories of planets aligning is likewise bogus since the Mayans had no thought as to the authentic variety of planets interior the image voltaic equipment. On suitable of that, the alignment (as in spite of everything of alignments) is in simple terms seen from the perspective of the Earth, so from the different perspective, it may seem insignificant. The planets have aligned interior the previous, without effect in any appreciate. there's no reason to assume that this time would be any distinctive. third, the planets do no longer even line up in 2012-which prevents a meaningless prevalence from even happening in any respect. Fourth, pole shifts take hundreds of years, and their outcomes are minimum. fairly, we would ought to recreate our compasses and alter our maps. no longer often a doomsday project. 5th, an alignment with the middle of the Universe (yet another thought) has no effect different than seen-the celebs could seem in distinctive places-and in actuality, we are easily extra from the middle alignment than while the Mayans made their calender. 6th, take this quote from a significant proponent of the 2012 thought-"interior the interest of readability, i visit point that it may be greater precise to declare that the alignment happens interior the era of 2012; via fact precession is this sort of slow phenomenon, 50 years on the two part of 2012 could be suited." -John significant Jenkins. So, it fairly is in accordance with misconceptions and a opt to rouse concern in the two the honest and gullible.

What you heard about 2012 is misconceptions that white new agers are exploiting the Mayan culture to exploit ignorance.

The Mayans themselves are a bit upset that people think that they predicted the end of the world when it was some dumb white guy (Micheal Coe) who started this lie in the first place.

Natural disasters happen all the time, i dont think the earthquake has anything to do with our so called apocolypse. If 2012 does happen then there is not a single thing anybody can do so whats the point in worrying ourselves to an early grave. and if it doesnt happen then in 2013 ill look back and laugh as i add it to the list of stuff that didn happen like y2k etc etc etc

Ok lets go back a few years:

1999

Hector mine earthquake, 7.1 on Richter scale

China earthquake, 7.6 on scale 2,416 people were killed, over 11,000 seriously injured

Columbia earthquake 6.2 on scale 3900 missing and many dead and injured.

They were the earthquakes... There were the Bangladesh floods and the Vietnam floods that spread many diseases

Natural disasters happen all the time. If you hadn't heard of 2012 you would not be worried.

Yeah, i was thinking abt it last night too..all the recent happenings seem to align well for a disaster to blow up. On the bright side, there is no need to worry abt working hard for the future, 2012 will take care of us all.
