Enough with the vampire questions, I know xD But Im curious. Was it just in the movies they did that ? Was it from a sort of old origin ? I just watched Let Me In. It sucked. But I was just wondering, thanks :3

It is an old myth that the vampire must be invited in by a human. We do not require such niceties in order to slaughter your family while thy peacefully slumber.

It's an old christian superstition that unless you invite a demon or an evil spirit into your home it is unable to enter and therefore unable to harm you. How it got associated with vampires? Probably by the christian fear monger and con artist Abraham Van Helsing. Van Helsing was a real person that spread a lot of wild superstitious nonsense around europe and conned people into paying him for his "unique" services.

Such superstitions often times come from christian takes on pagan superstitions and practices. Even though the majority of europe was converted to christianity at one time, Pagan culture and influence survived in the form of fairy tails and superstitions among the masses.

Every vampire show has its own specific vampire mythology so by now it's watered down. According to what the author wants.

in Forever Knight there's no mention of this whatsoever. Vampires come and go as they please. But in Dracula The Series, there is.
