I watched the movie and thought it was good and all but when i went to blairwitch.com it had all kinds of pictures of like the 3 students as children and pictures of the investigators, and pictures of the people who discovered the footage and a duffel bag that belonged to heather donahue and films and all kind of stuff. It also showed a picture of a missing sign of the 3 students. the reason I am so not sure is it just looks like real footage and it read that the footage was returned to the mother of heather donahue and she then took it to haux films and it was then turned into a movie. and also i haven't actually seen those 'actors' on tv or magazines or any thing. the also had the same names as the kids if they are actors. Please someone tell me some answers. thank you

I'd say you're the most gullible person on here but this isn't my first time on yahoo answers. It's set up to LOOK real. That's why it's called a MOVIE. Not a documentary. If it were real don't you think there would be a lot more done about it then just having the footage released as a major film? The first text you see on the website is "Lionsgate films and haxan entertainment celebrate the tenth anniversary" ect. Do you think they would say something about an event where three people ACTUALLY died? The whole beginning of the website is so commercialized it's pretty obvious. Even the missing posters signs look fake. I've never seen a missing poster that used exclamation points or had so few details.

The Blair witch is fictional- the name was inspired by the bell witch, a regional ghost story from the North East US that dates back to colonial times. Some information on the actors can be seen here at the internet movie databse. The film the texas chainsaw massacar used the same ploy of claiming the story was true.

Real footage? Yes. Real movie footage. It was scripted for a movie, filmed with a movie budget (though low budget) with paid actors, marketed and released to a gullible audience, most of whom still think the entire thing actually happened.

This movie is not real, and the director did many things to make people belive that it was. Even thought most of them were weak. The reason you don't see them on the web or the magazine is because, they agreeded to make any contact with people, so everyone would thing that they were dead. This whole movie was improvised and the director gave them mimunm food and water to make them go insane and huliscant. So it was overall a big scam, but was a bit clever.

The Blair Witch challenge is a American horror action picture released in 1999. The narrative is provided as a documentary pieced mutually from novice pictures. The action picture became into produced by way of the Haxan movies production business enterprise. The action picture relates the tale of three youthful pupil filmmakers (Heather Donahue, Joshua Leonard, and Michael C. Williams) who hike into the Black Hills of Burkittsville, Maryland to action picture a documentary a pair of community legend hassle-free because of the fact the Blair Witch, and subsequently pass lacking. The viewer is instructed that the three have been by no ability got here upon, whether their video and sound kit (alongside with lots of the pictures they shot) became into got here upon a twelve months later. This "recovered pictures" is provided because of the fact the action picture the viewer is observing. This action picture became into incredibly valuable based on the shown fact that it became into "valid", which it became into no longer. The action picture makers wanted to confirm, purely how low funds they might pass collectively as nonetheless making a action picture which might have super container workplace charm. As you will locate, it became into an fairly valuable action picture concept, one which will pass down in historic past. it somewhat is been 10 years because of the fact the action picture and individuals are nonetheless talking approximately it (as evidenced by way of your question). while all is declared and executed, "The Blair Witch challenge" isn't something greater suitable than somebody's mind's eye, which became into introduced to existence by way of Hollywood. Have an exquisite relax of the evening. bright advantages.

No dear but it was so realistic wasn't it? I remember when it was in theaters and the Sci Fi Channel ran a show on it and said it was real. So, I made arrangements to travel up to Toledo to visit my cousin and watch the movie there. She is so terrified of anything horror but really wanted to see this. We planned on a Friday night. I was reading in the paper that they interviewed the young lady from the movie about the movie. This at first blew my circuits as I knew she must be dead from the account given on the SciFi channel. Then it dawned on me and I felt like such a horses ***. It was not real. I marvalled at the hype the movie was given and the affect it had on people.

So that night I drove up to Toledo and we watched the movie and my cousin was just beside herself with fear. So, I let her in on the secret. So let this be a lesson to you about hollywood hype.

A really good movie to watch about hollywood hype, is also a hollywood fiction, it's title is "Wag the Dog".

I hope this helped you out.

Blessed Be

Hello Kitty,

No, it was all fiction and an innovative presentation filmed like an amature docudrama to seem real. It did very well financially and similar methods in movie making have been tried. If you liked it, here is another one that keeps you on the edge of your feet:
