Hestoid says; Eros is primordial and has no peronage.

Homer says : Eros' mother is Aphrodite

other myths include Ares, Hephaestus and Adonis as potential fathers of Cupid/Eros

There is two Eros.

The first is Eos the primeval god (I like to use Protogenoi Eros). This god was "born" from Chaos (a female goddess, genderless god, or a moving, formless mass). This is the third child that came from Chaos. This god didn't have much to do than be Love itself, since all primeval are personification of what they are, such as Gaia being the Earth.

The second and most famous one is Eros (or how we know him by his Roman name, Cupid). This god is the son of Aphrodite and Ares (it can't be Hermes because none of sources say anything about Cupid being his son).

Most scholars say he was the some of Aphrodite. However, Hesiod, another ancient Greek source, says Eros was a primordial god (he had no parents).
