I am intrigued by the way Merlin lives backwards through time in "The Once and Future King", are there any examples of this in any other movies, tv shows, or literature?

Piers Anthony wrote a book called, With An HourGlass, which is part of his Immortals series I think it was called. In the series it shows how Death, Fate, and other Immortals came to hold their office. This one is about Time and the character lives backwards which is how he knows the future. when he goes all the way backwards to the beginning of his life, he is an infant and from there goes back to the infinate.

There is a real life episode of time travel. I watched it on tv once. A farmer was checking a tree that had been struck by lightning and suddenly he was transported from 1800 to 1996.

He was picked up by police because he was freaking out and very disorientated and later put in the mental unit where he claimed to be the missing owner of a mansion whose owner disappeared with out a trace.

I wish I could give you the link.

Search for it and maybe some day you will find it.

In the series finale of Next Generation, there was a quasar that went backwards in time, growing larger, but that's hardly the same.

It is an awesome idea that has intrigued me as well, but really, it seems that everyone has allowed Merlin to keep the corner market on it. Well, other than Piers Anthony, but he's a hack.

The main character in Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse 5" becomes "unstuck in time." It was also made into a movie. But the only one I know who's living backwards in time is Merlin from TOAFK.

Check out "Slaughterhouse 5" by Kurt Vonnegut (sp). Not backward as such but along the same lines. Great read.

It would be hard to portray this in a film, but the first one that comes to mind is MEMENTO (2000), in which a man with short-term amnesia attempts to find the murderer of his wife, which is the last thing he remembers. The movie is sorta told backwards.

Yes, but they are rare. The ability is usually associated with Merlin.

Have you ever seen a little known movie called Orlando? Tilda Swinton is in it. She and he travels through several of her lifetimes. Through British history.
