King Arthur's Excalibur vs. Thor's hammer?

What would happen Arthur's Excalibur and Thor's hammer strike together at full force? Would Excalibur be shattered since the sword was not made by god? Thor's hammer power could produce lightning, call weather, and enable him to fly or teleport. What exactly cool magical powers does the Excalibur possess other than the symbol of kingship? Anyone could remember the powers based on the original myth, novels, movies, and comics? Oh by the way, does that sword actually exist?

Excalibur was given to Merlin by The Lady of the Lake and attributed with magical powers and associated with the rightful sovereignty of Great Britain. It was returned to The Lady of the Lake upon Arthur's death. When Excalibur was first drawn, Arthur's enemies were blinded by its blade, which was as bright as thirty torches. Excalibur's scabbard was said to have powers of its own. Injuries from losses of blood, for example, would not kill the bearer. In some tellings, wounds received by one wearing the scabbard did not bleed at all.

Thor, was god of the sky, the ruler of storms and the deliverer of thunderbolts and rain;but Thor was also the protector of the universe. He guarded the world with his mighty hammer, Mjööllnir (meaning the crusher or destroyer). His main enemy were the giants and serpents that lurked in the underworld. The hammer hit whatever object it was aimed at and always returned to Thor's hand. Thor also had a magical belt named Megingiord. When worn in battle, it doubled his strength against the enemy. Thor's Hammer was more than a symbol of his supernatural strength. It was worn as a necklace or pendant and would protect the wearer from danger.

Interesting question--have a star! Both items were intended to be used for good. So, if they were used against each other. . . they would not be fulfilling their purpose; in other words, not serving their purpose for being. . . and would be rendered useless (at least that's what I would LIKE to think would happen--otherwise, Excalibur wouldn't have a chance--I say this with all due respect to Excalibur--but I am lightningelemental, after all.)

There are no "powers" associated with Excalibur in the original Legends. It was made on the Isle of Mists, or Avalon, and sent as a symbol to the people of Britain. It could only be removed from the stone by the future King, the true son of Uther Pendragon.

There is debate as to whether King Arthur even existed let alone the sword. If he had, he would have actually been a 12th century Celtic chieftain, not a King in the sense of the word we use.

I second Thrudheim's answer...if Thor's hammer is going to beat up on Excalibur (and it would, of course...), you'll want the originaly mythological version of the hammer, not some comic book one.

Oh, and it is probably worth noting that Thor's Hammer Mjolnir was NOT made by the gods. It was made by dwarfs Sindri and Brokkr, brought to the gods and given to Thor by Loki.

Still, it would kick butt on Excalibur...

Arthurian legend is the fictional origin of England. The Knights Templar lost the Holy Land to Saladin of Egypt in a series of battles, and were burned on crosses by the pope. A contemporary equivalent of the Knights Templar is the Haliburton corporation. A contemporary equivalent of the Knights of Malta, (Knights Hospitaller), is the Blackwater security agency.

King Arthur's Excalibur of course it was a sword of unmatched power that could cut through anything and not be damaged plus it had the added benefit of being undefeatable

" Thor's hammer power could produce lightning"

It was said that lightning flashed whenever he threw Mjollnir. The thunder was the sound of his chariot being drawn across the sky.

"call weather, and enable him to fly or teleport."

Put the comic book DOWN............

there is NOTHING in the lore thats ays ANY of that.

Greetings!

"not made by god"?

Perhaps it was made by Dwarves. British Dwarves.

And, Arthur won over the NorthMen at Badon Hill-I think that answers the question.
