RE:

Are palm readings real or fake?

Ok well I got my palms read today and I'm sort of nervous, the woman who read my palms said that my lifespan which is the last line of the palm was very short and that means that I would have a short life? I'm confused. Does this mean I should be planning my funeral or what? One is longer...

There is no evidence that supports the efficacy of palm reading. "Results" are achieved through hot or cold reading of the subject. In other words, the palm reader makes general remarks that could apply to almost anyone and waits for the subject to supply information, which the reader then uses to seem legitimate.

For instance, telling someone that they will face an illness in the future isn't mystical at all. Everyone gets sick, don't they?

Even if a reader were to tell you something that seems true, they are reading your future, which hasn't happened. If what they said would happen didn't happen, they could simply tell you that you made choices after your reading that changed your future. Or they could tell you that the event is still in the future, and to be patient.

There is no evidence that palm reading is anything but a scam to take your money.

Yes, they are fake. I'm sorry that you wasted your time and money. People who take money for this kind of thing are nothing but fraudsters. Think about it. Lines on your palms mean nothing. They can change over time, they can change through injury. What would a palmist make of someone who had no hands? Does that mean they aren't alive? Seriously, it's all a load of rubbish. If palmistry was legit, everyone including doctors would practise it. You would learn precise things about your future from a very early age. As it stands, it's about as accurate as fortune telling and horoscopes.

You could get hit by a bus tomorrow. You could live to the age of 100. Your future can change 1000's of times a day by the decisions you make. It has nothing to do with the lines on your hands. Don't plan your funeral or worry about what college you're going to. Just take each day as it comes and make the most of it.

Palm readers are fake. Not to worry.

I got my palm read years ago when I was in the army. This lady reader said that I would marry a redhead and have 3 children.

I married a blond/brunet and have 1 child.

It's a racket. Don't let it ruin your life.

The lines on your palm, shape of your fingers, etc can be related to personality traits, but you are your own person, it doesn't define who you are. You can easily learn to read palms on your own time, let alone pay to have someone do it for you.

Your palms are not going to tell you how many children you're going to have, when you're going to die, etc. The future is NOT set in stone, it is constantly changing.

Don't let this eat up your mind or scare you, for a lot of it will never happen and isn't true.

This is why people don't get their palms read. I have a friend that has a very short life line and she is now 38. Still alive and well. Looks like she might make it to 100. Her life line was suposed to end at the age of 35.

There is no objective, empirical evidence or studies that suggest palmistry, or palm-reading, is credible or accurate.

Hi :o) It depends who you ask. Palm readers will tell you it's real. It's all down to interpretation anyway and is not based on anything scientific or logical. Do people born without hands (and therefore no lifeline) die immediately? What about people who lose their hands in an accident - do they die on the spot? Silly isn't it?

What is a short life? How long is a piece of string? If you ask someone who lost their beloved dad at the age of 50, they'll say that his life was far too short. Ask someone from a century or so ago and they'd say well that's not bad, a lot of people died before the age of five, and the rest by their thirties or forties. It's all relative!

The length of your life will have far more to do with whether or not you indulge in drink, drugs and extremes of lifestyles, or live sensibly and moderately, than the length of your life line! Your genetics will also play a part but only so far as predisposition goes. You just do your best to live a good life and stick to your principles and forget about life lines and palm readings.

It doesn't take a clairvoyant to know that you are intelligent with the potential to go a long way (regardless of your current educational achievements). It's not difficult to read between the lines of what you write and see that you are one bright cookie - without a glimpse of your palms! Circumstances have held you back and your full educational potential has not yet had the chance to show.

Palmists can be very perceptive and observant...

"Cross my palm with silver deary and let me see your hands - Hmm, I see you have suffered heartache but all that will change when you meet a good-looking stranger..." (She's noticed that you have a paler line on your finger where there was recently a wedding ring, and that you appear a bit sad, but are also very attractive...)

"Yada yada - Hmm, you have a comfortable life and are in need of nothing..Beware of the advances of a charming man who could reduce you to poverty..." (This time she notices that the sitter wears expensive matching diamond/emerald wedding/engagement and eternity rings, and any other bling is 18ct+. Her bag is at least Prada and her shoes are hand made one off designer... Her hands are soft and the naiis professionally manicured with no chips, and she is not in the first flush of youth. She is calm and seems a bit bored...a prime target for an affair.)

"Yada Yada etc., Hmm You have had many admirers, and one who will shortly come into your life who may cause you to change your plans... I see some happy times ahead..." (Well yeas it seems pretty obvious that an attractive young woman not wearing a wedding ring will have had admirers and that there will be more. The chances are that one of them is likely to cause a change of plans, and that there will be some happy times ahead. That would apply to practically everyone!)

Am I in the wrong job? "Cross my palm with silver or gold deary and show me your hands, and I'll show you what the future might hold for you..." Ha ha ha laughing all the way to the bank.

Kindest regards and please forgive the humour!
