I don't think imagination is gender-based. I have noticed that most other adults don't seem to have much, so it might be age based.

When I younger, I kind of felt sorry for adults. Neither of my parents have much of an imagination, nor did any of my friends' parents. My friends and I were all very imaginative. Now that I'm an adult, I still have a very active imagination but I've noticed that most of my old friends don't. I don't know how I managed to keep mine, but then again, the only thing I can't imagine is me without my imagination. So maybe that's how I kept mine--it's such a part of me that I can't identify with myself any other way. Other people managed to let go and "grow up," as they say.

Ahhhhh, but how many ADULTS use this site? Personally, I AM an adult, and I like YA cause it gives me a chance to share my knowledge and experiences in multiple areas. Aaaaaand, I have a wonderful imagination -- I'm currently writing my first mystery novel. [My misspellings here are on purpose -- it's how I talk] It's possible I have an active imagination because I don't find all the high tech toys we have these days to be fascinating or even interesting.

Yes, I have a cell phone, but use it basically for emergencies. Most people ask me how I can live without being on my phone constantly, to which I reply "Stephen King doesn't even OWN one, and he gets along just fine"

At which point I wonder if they even know WHO Stephen King IS".

I hope I have a good imagination,being a writer.

Seriously though, I think people in general, male and female, are less imaginative than in the past. They don't read books enough and look to entertainment through electronic means rather than from their own imaginations.

If you ever think women don't have imaginations, just stay out all night and when you come home, count the number of possible ways your g/f has thought up for you to have been out cheating on her. This will prove, without a doubt, just how vivid thier imaginations are.

I have an active imagination that seems to surface not only in my poetry, but on the sides of my college assignments. I believe I have a bad case of UDS (Uncontrollable Doodling Syndrome). I also write short stories, but I find that I am a touch scatter-brained and can't write anything too long. Not a lack of imagination, just a lack of attention span.

Imaginations don't usually disappear, they just make a transition. So, instead of pretending we're cowboys, as an adult we're looking for new ways to accomplish a task. Perhaps we're inventors by nature, or just use our imaginations to figure out how to pay bills. We just use our imaginations to improve the real world. (or as artists of a form.)

And there is little difference between the amount of imagination for male or female. It's just a matter of how they use it.

I have more of an imagination that I ever thought possible... come to one of my dreams sometime! Ha ha. Look up "DMT" on wikipedia, it is a chemical believed to be produced by the pineal gland in the brain, and also believed to be the chemical to cause dreaming during sleep. It's got a lot to do with yoga, chakras, etc. too, in traditional holistic medicine. Read by blog about this on myspace entitled, "Insane!" - it's a layman's terms overview of the tons of info you'll find on wikipedia.

No, we are too busy thinking about what shoes go with what outfit and "I heard that Brittany has an underwear set to match each outfit, should I?" and "Oh god, please don't let anyone notice that I am wearing a size ten top" And "look at that skinny *****, I wish she would fall onto a cake and swallow half by mistake" And "ok, who here would I look best beside" and ..and....and.... ooh, A happy girl is an empty headed girl.

So, does it look like we have time to sit around daydreaming and imagining things?

Yes, I do

I love imagining lots of things ..

that help me create stories.

And there is no harm imagining in a fantasy theme or even action one..

Adults have imagination...when they feel tired or even longing for something..they just good in pretending they are not "imagining". But they do..

I imagine that I have a good imagination. Most of the time it's full of dragons. And my psychologist told me that my main problem in relating to people is that I do have a "very... VERY active imagination." *lol* So I guess 'yeah, definitely.'

In our society you are discouraged to have an imagination.

Children don't use their imaginations in play (they have everything already pre-made)

Adults tell children that their make-believe friends are not real, Santa isn't real, or the Easter Bunny, so how can we have good imaginations.

I have a wonderful imagination, that's why I prefer to read than watch movies. When I read I can see things exactly the WAY I WANT THEM,and not have someone else spell it out for me.I daydream all day, too.

Women have a lot of imagination, or you confusing resourcefulness and imagination? Either way, don't you think you're question is a bit sexist??

yes most of us do have good imaginations. I know I do. ;-) Most adults are stuck on the "I don't wanna act like a kid thing". My husband and I prefer the "I don't wanna grow up" thing. Its more fun and makes the relationship more fun.

Lots of people, male and female, have good imaginations. You must be hanging around the wrong people if you don't see it.

artistic or creative women have not only good but the best of their imagination.

It is a rare gift to have one and that needs to be shared to others to inspire other people.

imagination combined with wit and wisdom and humour is a great multi-combi!
